We have introduced two initiatives, our Carer’s Travel Scholarship and Mentoring Program, which aim to address specific barriers women in health research careers face with respects to career progression.
The Franklin Women Carer’s Travel scholarship is an innovative scholarship that provides financial support for the care of young children when a health and medical researcher travels to present their work at a national or international conference. There are two competitive rounds each year.
The Franklin Women Mentoring Program is the first of its kind in the sector. In alignment with the broader values of Franklin Women, this program is professionally facilitated by experts in professional leadership and connects male and female mentors with female mentees from different health research organisations.
As we are a social enterprise, our initiatives have only been possible through the support of our members – it is the individuals who are part of the Franklin Women community that are each investing in the women in our sector.
