For our first In Conversations event of 2025 we are excited to welcome Annette Schmiede, a health-economist turned healthcare and health research advocate who is currently leading the Digital Health Corporative Research Centre – a digital health collective accelerating the design and implementation of digital health technologies – as its CEO.

Annette will share her diverse career within the health and medical research ecosystem spanning private and public healthcare, higher education, philanthropy, board governance and of course, health innovation. As well as reflect on how the skills, relationships and experiences she picked up over her 40+ year career set her up for her most impactful and influential position as CEO of Digital Health CRC. A role she took on in 2023 when also navigating another new important role of grandma, balancing these two career and life milestones.

What makes this Q&A extra special is it will be facilitated by one of Annette’s mentees, Franklin Women founder Dr Melina Georgousakis, allowing a refreshingly candid conversation. Topics on the table include ageism and gender bias, the importance of connecting academia with industry, the opportunities she sees for early career professionals in our sector, and the revolution of data and digital tech in healthcare.

Anyone who has met Annette knows we’re in for an inspiring and authentic (and hilarious!) evening.

For those joining us via live stream, you will be able to tune into the conversation (and recording), take part in the Q&A with Annette and connect with others online through the always fun FW chat.
