Flexible Working 101: what it really means and how to go about it

The last 18 months has seen a rapid change in our workplaces with the phrase ‘working from home’ (#WFH) becoming part of our everyday vocabularies. This has brought necessary benefits in a COVID environment but has also created challenges, like the feeling of always “being on”.

So it might come as a relief to know that, despite being described as ‘flexible working’, the current working situation for many right now is, in fact, anything but! What flexible working is really about is choosing when, where and how you are able to do your best work. True flexible work will be the way of working in the future and is also one of the key enablers of gender equal workplaces, when it is adopted well by organisations and their people, of any gender.

To help you unlock this important skill for work, and also your wellbeing, we are excited to host Ariane Virtue from Flex We Are for a virtual masterclass on Flexible Working. Ariane will debunk myths around flexible working and share with us some flexible working strategies that are adaptable to your individual circumstances – both now and into the future – whether you work from home or attend a workplace (lab scientists and patient-facing peeps, we’re looking at you!). She will also share some tips for how to have conversations around flexibility in your teams, as well as offering some practical strategies for managing your day (and your energy) to get your best work done.

There will be opportunities to ask Ariane your questions and to connect with the other attendees joining our virtual event.
